Optical and RIN Spectrum Improvements in Necked Waveguide High-Power DFB Laser Diode

چکیده

A novel high power distributed feedback (DFB) laser is proposed which uses a partially narrow waveguide and corrugation pitch modulated (CPM) phase shift grating. Compared with conventional DFB lasers constant width, these necked have greater improvements in terms of optical relative intensity noise (RIN) spectrum. They are less sensitive to external (EOF) increase the range injection current for single longitudinal mode (SLM) operation. It can not only suppress multimode lasing state under EOF intensity, but also realize SLM operation RIN < −135 dB than −15 150 mA ~ 350 mA. Therefore, was increased continuous wave (CW) light sources silicon-based hybrid photonic integration applications.

Mode-Locking of High-Power Resonant-Optical-Waveguide Diode Laser Arriays

We report the first mode-locked operation of a resonant optical waveguide (ROW semiconductor laser array. Pulsewidths as short as 23 ps and peak powers of ower 1W are generated in a single-lobed beam. Mode-locked semiconductor lasers are attractive as compact sources of short optical pulses for use in physics measurements, for instrumentation systems, and for telecommunications applications. Su...

High-Power DFB Diode Laser-Based CO-QEPAS Sensor: Optimization and Performance

A highly sensitive carbon monoxide (CO) trace gas sensor based on quartz-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy (QEPAS) was demonstrated. A high-power distributed feedback (DFB), continuous wave (CW) 2.33 μm diode laser with an 8.8 mW output power was used as the QEPAS excitation source. By optimizing the modulation depth and adding an optimum micro-resonator, compared to a bare quartz tuning fork...

Immunity to Laser Power Variation in a DFB Diode Laser Based Optical Gas Sensor Using a Division Process

The division process used in a DFB diode laser-based optical gas sensor was studied to improve the immunity to laser power variation. Residual amplitude modulation (RAM) in wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS) detection was eliminated by intensity normalization using a division process. As a result the detected harmonic signals showed a significant improvement in line shape. For the first h...

Brillouin Fiber Laser Pumped by a DFB Laser Diode

In this paper, we present a novel Brillouin fiber-ring laser utilizing an unbalanced Mach–Zehnder interferometer (UMZI) as coupling device. The laser is pumped by a distributed-feedback laser diode and shows continuous-wave and single-frequency operation. Frequency-dependent transmission characteristics of the UMZI make it possible for the pump wave to pass through the laser-ring cavity with no...
